Got married Sunday. It was a simple intimate wedding but it was beautiful. Held at our church. My daughter lost her second tooth and now has a cute gap on her bottom teeth. We are also thinking we might be pregnant which will make three kids for us. We are working to get her 8 year old son back from the grandparents who took off with him.
Spent Friday and Saturday at a conference for housing issues sponsored by a network of organizations working to stop foreclosures and evictions. I'm working on starting a chapter in my city of an organization that works to end foreclosures and evictions and empower people to fight them.
During the conference I spent the night with friends. Always a little nerve wracking when I do that because of the incontinence and diapers. I usually mention it so it's less of a problem and I did this time. My host just said no worries. I took a few of the premium diapers a friend had sent me which helped make sure I didn't leak pee or worse on the pull out couch I slept on. I was woken up to my host telling me I needed to change because the kids were asking questions about why it smelled like poop in the living room. I grabbed my bag and headed to the bathroom to get cleaned up and ready for the day but the door was locked because their oldest was in the bathroom. So I decided my best bet would be to step outside for a smoke so that I and my stinky diaper weren't discovered and then came back inside and to the bathroom just as their second youngest (age 3 and potty training) was leaving the bathroom all excited because he had made it to the potty and his pull up was dry. As he was leaving the bathroom the oldest child re enters the area saying the smell was gone from the living room but that she could smell it in the hallway now. She asked Declan, the 3 year old, if he had pooped in his pull up. He of course was pretty bothered by that and put his hands on his hips and goes " I not poopy." "I not a baby like J.J (1 year old). All of a sudden, his eyes get big and they meet mine...and I shit you not he walks over and slaps my butt and goes "mommies friend is poopy....he baby...not me."
The oldest (Maria aged 7) giggles and says, "Declan, mommies friend is too old to have accidents in his underwear".
I'm of course still standing in the hallway, trying to figure out how to get out of the jam I'm in. At this point Declan, says " mommy friend is stinky and doesn't wear "underwear" like him. He wears diapers like JJ. She was about to respond when my host walks into the hallway allowing me an escape into the bathroom and as I closed the door, I heard Declan ask his mom why I wore diapers. When I closed the door, I saw my bag open with one of my diapers out of the bag on the floor. It all made sense. When I got all cleaned up and entered the living room, Declan giggled and said "it's okay". "You'll get underwear like me someday. You have to twy very very hard to to not go potty in your diaper and go in the potty."
The host sat them both down and we all had a conversation about how some disabled kids and adults have to wear diapers.
The oldest Maria brought up that their friend Jesse who lives next door is mentally disabled and acts like a baby and has to wear a diaper. I guess that made sense to Declan and everything was fine after that.
If you are wondering how my bag ended up in the bathroom, I had set it by the bathroom door when I left to go have a smoke. I assume he picked it up and took it in the bathroom with him.
