Later on with my diaper pretty wet and having just had a bowel movement, I told her we needed to go over to the restroom and she balked because she wanted to continue playing so I told her that she could play for two more minutes but then we needed to go...she paused like she wanted to ask something but decided not to and she went back to playing.
I went back to checking Facebook on my phone and got lost in that but was startled out of my "Facebook stupor," when I felt my bum being touched, and I turned around to see a little boy about 3 with the girl my daughter was arguing and playing with earlier, standing right behind me with the biggest shit faced grin and he goes: "you need a new diaper..you poopy...you stink" and he then asks something to the effect of where my mommy was..and by that point, his sister was just beside her self.
Thankfully their mom spared me further awkwardness and called them both over, having heard a good portion of what was being said, and proceeded to talk to them about being nice and minding their own business yada yada yada...me and my daughter left so I could go handle my business and get my self cleaned up and we left.
Its been awhile since I have had to deal with something like this. I expect that it wont be the last.
It doesnt make me angry when it happens. Young kids especially tend to lack the experience of being around adults who have to wear diapers. They wore them as babies and went through the stage of getting out of them. In there minds, only babies wear diapers and find it incredibly strange and silly the rare chance they encounter and adult who has to wear them.
For adults out there with kiddos. Talk to them. Teach them that some adults have to wear them too. Let them know that its not okay to make fun of some one who has a disability.
People like us thank you.
