The campaign while financially motivated, has a positive end result and I wanted to touch on this.
Having seen all the positive press and the very public event in New York involving a music act and dancing and geared towards a younger crowd, the result in the end will be a public that can start to see that Adult diapers arent just for older people or babies. Seeing people, a lot of them willing to put on a Depend product and show the world and not necessarily need them is also a positive thing. Using visual media(videos i.e youtube, and sites like instagram) to get he message out is genius as this is wear my generation is at and its how you reach us.
In the end the most important thing is working to reduce stigma so that people who live with incontinence will be more likely to use what ever works for them to manage incontinence and make it easier to enjoy life out and about with a little less shame normally associated with incontinence and having to wear diapers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
That being said, I still dont like that adult diapers are becoming trash bags metaphorically speaking. People like me(severe incontinence) derive security from wearing something I know I can DEPEND on. When I am out and about doing stuff like taking my daughter to the park and I inevitably pee my pants or worse, I am able to live a full life every day because I know that no one will know because I am wearing a diaper and it did its job. Not all of us can get away with wearing ultra thin pull ups. In fact many of us cant but you look in the stores and there is not a single package of adult diapers for sale. They are all pull ups and panty shields. Thankfully my insurance covers my diapers and they are shipped from a medical supply company and there are plenty of places online to get what a person needs but fewer and fewer non premium and thus pricey diaper brands are available every time I turn around. It leaves an ominous feeling in my gut. Its already hard enough that most adult diapers in general are poorly made, designed not for utility and more for making sure it doesnt look like a diaper.
No shame here. Id would die for a diaper that cradled my whole under region and was thick enough to not have me running to the restroom frequently for privacy to change so I dont leak. The point for me is not worrying about springing a leak or having some other form of diaper failure especially when I am out and about.
No more granny panties please.
